The department of pharmaceutical Chemistry is primarily involved in providing a strong foundation in fundamentals & different branches viz Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Biochemistry Medicinal chemistry and chemistry of Natural products.

It’s a branch of Pharmacy concerned with the preparation, use or sale of medicinal drugs. Natural molecules now occupy an increasingly important place in pharmaceutics. It is the discipline of Pharmacy that deals with all facets of the process of turning a new chemical entity into a safe and effective medication. Our department focuses mainly on the following areas

Pharmacognosy is one of the oldest branches of the pharmacy profession concerned with the study of history, distribution, physical, chemical, biochemical and biological properties of natural drugs, including the search for new drugs from natural sources.

It has undergone significant development in recent years and has emerged today as highly interdisciplinary and one major area of pharmaceutical sciences as the search for new drugs from natural sources and nutraceuticals.

Pharmacology deals with medicines and their actions in the human body. Pharmacology has two divisions- Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics. Pharmacokinetics is the study of changes occurring to the drug in the body. Pharmacodynamics is the study of changes in the drug produced in the body. Experimental pharmacology deals with drug screening studies using animals and isolated tissue preparations; demonstrations are done through software.

Pharmacy practice is one of the recent branch of pharmacy designed to develop a new generation of pharmacist working in a clinical setup along with physician and other health care workers. This subject  provide an understanding of the process involved in providing primary healthcare, drug information and other clinical pharmacy services in different practice environments.
